Stuart Pearce reveals the 'one change he thinks Gareth Southgate should make amid Euros 2024

Stuart Pearce thinks Gareth Southgate needs to make one change to the England team.

The 62-year-old professional football manager and former player explained that if the national manger wants success, he needs to bring Manchester United star Luke Shaw in and allow him to take the place of Newcastle United player Kieran Trippier.

He told Footy Accumulators: "If Gareth Southgate is to make one change it should be Luke Shaw coming in for Kieran Trippier and that’s no slight on Kieran Trippier.

“I thought he had a reasonable game against Serbia, but a natural left-sided player there would make all the difference, especially if Phil Foden's playing and coming off the flank a little bit.

“It's more noticeable with Foden playing that crosses are not coming in from that side because he's not coming into free space for a natural left-sided fullback.

“Personally, that would be the one change. Luke Shaw needs to get him some game time as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, Stuart also thinks that England could possibly win without Luke but is sure that the team "cannot afford to lose anyone" really in their bid for victory.

He said: "I think England have got the ability to win the tournament without him, but what I would say is that the task is that much harder without a natural left back into the side and my heart was in my mouth yesterday when Kieran Trippier went down holding his hamstring.

“The bottom line is we cannot afford to lose anyone in that area and the sooner we get Luke Shaw back the better because it'll offer you so much more defensively and probably so much more going forward as well
