The Sale Sharks full-back is hugely excited to have the opportunity to be part of the national squad for two test matches next month.

Asked how excited he is about the upcoming tour, he told Rugby World magazine: “I’d definitely say 11/10 excited.

“It’s a dream come true to get on a tour like this, especially being on the other side of the world..

“It’s pretty exciting.”

Joe is close to achieving his biggest goal in the sport.

Asked his aims, he said: “Ultimately playing for the British and Irish Lions would be the massive goal.

“But in the short term, it’s getting an England cap, hopefully in the near future.”

The 22-year-old sportsman insisted it is always important to enjoy the game.

Discussing the best advice he’s ever received, he said: “For rugby, it has always been to just enjoy it.

“There’s always going to be hard work, there’s always going to be big collisions, always going to be sore bodies, but ultimately if you don’t enjoy and love what you do, you’ll lose the motivation. So just love every minute of it.”
