Jordan Pickford happy to take a penalty for England against Switzerland

Jordan Pickford is willing to take another penalty for England against Switzerland at Euro 2024.

The goalkeeper scored from the spot when the Three Lions beat the Swiss in the Nations League in 2019 and would be comfortable if tasked with doing likewise in the quarter-final clash on Saturday (06.07.24).

Pickford said: "Yes, I will step up. I’m not the manager but I will practise and I will be prepared. Everyone has got to practise because anyone can be on the pitch at any time.

"That Nations League match was a tough game that went to penalties and we got the bronze medal.

"You’ve got to learn from those experiences and take them into major tournaments. It was a good feeling back then to get those experiences under our belt.

"They are a very good side. They’ve just knocked out the reigning champions [Italy] and are playing some very good football, so they aren’t going to be a team we’re taking lightly."

England have been unconvincing at Euro 2024 so far but Pickford urged the supporters to stick with the players as they stand just three wins from glory.

Asked to give a message to the fans, the Everton goalkeeper said: "Keep believing in us. We’ll go 100 per cent, give 100 per cent for the badge all the time, and we need them behind us because they’re a massive part of us.

"The atmosphere they create for us gives us an added edge."
