Mikel Oyarzabal insists Spain won't relax despite Euro 2024 favourites tag

Mikel Oyarzabal insists that Spain won't rest on their laurels despite many considering them favourites to win Euro 2024.

La Roja have impressed at the tournament and the forward has vowed that their level will not drop in what promises to be a blockbuster quarter-final against hosts Germany on Friday (05.07.24).

Oyarzabal said: "They say it now, but three weeks ago nobody said that about us.

"We're sticking to the same idea and keeping on going in the same way, trusting ourselves, knowing we can compete against anyone.

"Just because people believe we are more or less favourites, it does not mean we are going to ease up.

"We're relaxed, working hard and trying to prepare as well as possible for Friday."

Spain are looking to win a record fourth continental crown and Oyarzabal insists that the team believe that they can go all the way.

The Real Sociedad ace said: "For me and for any us here, we've got the best national team possible.

"We've got the best players, the best team-mates. We're all for one, there are no divisions within the team, we all feel important."

Despite his confidence, Oyarzabal knows that the team will be in for a tough challenge against the hosts who have also performed well to this point.

He said: "Germany are a great team, you don't need me to tell you that. They've started the tournament really strong, it's going to be a tough game."
