Harry Kane treasures 'really special' European Golden Shoe win

Harry Kane has received the European Golden Shoe award for his goalscoring feats last season.

The England marksman hit 36 league goals in his debut season at Bayern Munich to be the top scorer on the continent and thinks the honour justifies his decision to move to the Bundesliga giants.

Kane said: "It's really special. Obviously it was a big step in my career to come to FC Bayern.

"It was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. I'm enjoying every moment of it so far."

Despite Kane's goals, Bayern failed to win a trophy for the first time in 12 years last season but the striker is confident that the team will bounce back this term under new manager Vincent Kompany.

He said: "I'm excited for this season especially, obviously we got off to a good start on Sunday (winning 3-2 against Wolfsburg in their first league game).

"There's a new energy in the building, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this season."

Although Kane is pleased to win the individual prizes, he is keen to help Bayern progress as a team following last season's poor performance.

He said: "[My goals are] to continue how I started last year, to hopefully score as many goals, if not more.

"But most importantly, it's to win the titles.

"We know last year we fell short of what we wanted to achieve as a team, and I was part of that.

"As great as these awards are, we're all hungry to have that success as a team again, and we have a great opportunity as a team this year to go and do that, and hopefully prove a few people wrong."
