Canelo Alvarez will show his skill against Edgar Berlanga

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is determined to show that he is the world's best boxer against Edgar Berlanga.

The Mexican legend will defend his WBO, WBA and WBC super-middleweight titles in Saturday's (14.09.24) Las Vegas bout and has vowed to avoid any complacency as he looks to add to his 61 victories in the ring.

Canelo told reporters: "I always take my fights seriously and train 100 per cent no matter who is in there. I always have the same mentality.

"I will show everybody I'm still the best."

Alvarez is searching for his fifth straight triumph in the squared circle and he thinks that his "experience" will prove the difference against an opponent in his first world title contest.

He said: "It's going to be very difficult for him.

"I never overlook any fighter. He is young, a good fighter and is strong, but I've been in there with everybody and have so much experience. I'm strong and have a lot of talent – I'm just the best."

Berlanga claims that he is capable of making "believers" out of those who are writing him off in what will be the most important night of his career.

The American fighter, who is of Puerto Rican heritage, said: "There are a lot of doubters out there, people who don't believe in me, but Saturday night I'm going to make them believers.

"There is fire in my blood and veins to go out there and perform.

"This is the top of the mountain, it doesn't get any bigger, and now it's about me becoming great and putting my last name in the history books forever."
