Christian Eriksen intends to stay at Man Utd for the long term

Christian Eriksen hopes to stay at Manchester United for the long term.

The experienced Danish playmaker is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and has no intention of leaving the Premier League club after returning to the team in recent matches.

Eriksen said: "I feel very good being at United. If they told me to leave I would leave but I didn't hear that.

"I'm also a guy who likes being in a place where my family is settled and at the same time being in a place where I can benefit and play, that's always going to be my aim."

Quizzed on his long-term future at United, the midfielder added: "There's only one year left so my focus is going to be on this year, going full out and see what happens afterwards."

Eriksen was a peripheral figure for the Red Devils last season but dismissed the suggestion that he had discussed his lack of playing time with coach Erik ten Hag.

He said: "It's difficult to ask the manager in the off-season how many minutes I'm going to get in a season.

"If he starts promising minutes to players we're going to have a long season!

"There was no speaking in that sense, just head down, work hard and focus on each game."

United have won their two games since returning from the international break and Eriksen hopes that the team can keep the momentum going – starting with the Premier League game at Crystal Palace on Saturday (21.09.24).

He said: "It's only two games and two wins, it's our aim now to keep this consistency.

"Just winning the games and getting a good feeling going into each game. I hope the weekend we continue that."
