Mikel Arteta confident that Arsenal will end trophy wait this season

Mikel Arteta believes that Arsenal are on the path to winning trophies.

The Gunners have impressed in recent seasons but are still searching for their first piece of silverware since winning the FA Cup in 2020 and the coach is confident that the wait will end this season.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Arteta said: "That's the direction that we are taking, and I think we are on the right one.

"But then to deliver those trophies there are small margins, a lot of details and being in the right place at the right moment, and we have to be there.

"We are there and hopefully they will be coming."

Arteta has overseen huge progress since taking charge of Arsenal in 2019 and explained that he has found management more "fulfilling" than his playing career as it is a job where you can influence others.

The Spanish coach said: "At the start of my managerial career, I would have said there is nothing else like playing but now, I'm not sure about that.

"There are days being a manager is better, especially because when you see people really feeling part of something and the importance of something, and bring smiles and joy, and enjoying what we are doing every single day, and following your vision and what you are trying to do with them is extremely fulfilling.

"I'm grateful for that because you can improve the lives of a lot of people, not only football players, and that is part of it."
