Emma Finucane feels complete after Olympics success

Emma Finucane’s Olympic success left her feeling “complete”.

The 21-year-old cyclist made history at the Paris Games after becoming the first British woman in 60 years to win three medals in any sport at a single Olympics, taking home gold in the team sprint with Katy Marchant and Sophie Capewell, and individual bronzes in both the sprint and the keirin.

And Emma admitted she’ll never forget standing on the podium celebrating her success.

She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “It’s been incredible. I just wish I could bottle all the emotion and the feelings I had that week.

“I felt overwhelmed and emotional standing on the podium with my two closest friends, singing the national anthem, after working so hard together. You just feel complete.

“I was like, ‘How is this my life? I’ve done it, I’ve become the Olympic champion and my dream since I was about 10 years old has come true.’

“It’s an incredible feeling and I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.”

Emma likes to make an effort with her appearance when she’s competing as it helps her to feel “unstoppable”.

She said: “I believe that if you look good and feel good, your persona is more confident – and if I feel confident, I feel as though I could do anything. I feel unstoppable.

“Whether it’s getting my nails done or wearing a bit of fake tan or having mascara on, when I feel good, I’m definitely more confident on the track.”
