Frank Warren targets rematch between Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk

Frank Warren is keen to see Daniel Dubois take on Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch.

The British fighter retained his IBF world title belt with an emphatic win against Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium on Saturday (21.09.24) and his promoter thinks he has "all the tools" to avenge his loss to the Ukrainian last year and become the undisputed champion of the division.

Warren told BBC Radio 5 Live: "The fight I would like to see him in now is Usyk again.

"He is a different Daniel Dubois, he is more mature physically and mentally.

"He will go from strength to strength. He will be here for a while, he is a young man and has all the tools to take this division over."

A rematch between Dubois and Joshua has also been mooted and Warren suggested it is an option that he and his fighter will consider.

He said: "There is a clause [for a rematch with Joshua] in his contract but not in ours. But that's not to say we wouldn't do it. It's something we'll sit down and discuss."

Dubois knocked Usyk down in their first fight last year but it was controversially judged as a low blow by the referee as the unbeaten boxer ultimately went on to win via stoppage in the ninth round, although the promoter is convinced that the outcome would be different if the pair got into the ring again.

Warren said: "Dubois lost his composure [after the incident]. I think that was down to the fact he was a bit younger and he probably did not have the ring savviness to deal with it.

"But now he is a different guy altogether, as you saw on Saturday night."
