Bukayo Saka confident that Arsenal will win Premier League title this season

Bukayo Saka has declared that "this is the year" that Arsenal win the Premier League title.

The Gunners have been runners-up to Manchester City in the last two campaigns but the forward is confident that this will be the season that the club end their 20-year wait to be champions.

Saka told CBS Sports: "I don't want to put too much pressure on us but I do think that this is the year [Arsenal win the title].

"I think we've been close the last two years and we're getting closer, but this hopefully will be the year."

Saka has narrowly missed out on trophies at both club and international level with England but thinks that Arsenal's 2-0 win over PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday (01.10.24) is evidence that they can compete with the very best.

He told Amazon Prime: "Previous years, I've come runners-up a lot. It's just that spirit in me that I want to win this season and of course, I believe in myself a lot.

"With those two things, it helps. We believe in ourselves, we believe we're a top team. We showed that tonight [against Paris St-Germain]. I did tell the boys we have to make a statement when big teams are coming to the Emirates."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reiterated Saka's comments and felt the victory over the French giants shows they should be amongst the favourites for the competition.

The coach said: "It raises the confidence and the belief that we can compete with any team at that level in European competition.

"We showed a lot of maturity in the way that we played, and we put our stamp on the way we want to behave in Europe against the top teams.

"The players feel that we are going in the right direction. They believe in what we are doing, which is a great sign."
