Travis Kelce wasn't 'great' despite playing better for Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce has dismissed talk that he is back to his best for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The tight end put in an improved performance as the Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers 17-10 last weekend but the star said the effort wasn't "great" by his high standards.

Travis told his brother Jason Kelce on their 'New Heights' podcast: "A big game is like, I score a touchdown or something.

"I was accountable this game, I didn’t have any drops, which is what happened in Atlanta to make me feel like I had a bad game. I didn’t have an outstanding game."

Despite their unconvincing performances, Kelce was at pains to point out that the Chiefs have won all four of their matches so far this season.

He said: "I was still playing winning football and that's all that f****** matters.

"Everything outside of the building is just noise. I helped my team find a way to win and that is all that will ever matter."

Kelce, the boyfriend of Taylor Swift, also discussed the challenge of staying in shape and resisting junk food during the NFL season.

Speaking about his attempts to avoid eating a box of donuts that he had been sent, Kelce told his sibling: "The yellow boxes are dangerous.

"I'm at that point in the season where I'm like, let me just push it away.

"I see that golden glazed donut just sitting in the yellow box. I'm just like, ‘I don't need that today. I'll get it tomorrow,’ knowing that they don't have boxes of donuts in the building every day."
