Jake Paul’s next boxing move could be Anthony Joshua clash

Jake Paul’s move from YouTuber to heavyweight boxer could take another dramatic turn – with the 27-year-old hinting at a potential fight against Anthony Joshua.

Paul’s eight-round victory over Mike Tyson, 58, in the controversial Netflix-streamed event captured global attention, with more than 100 million viewers tuning in and 72,000 fans packing AT and T Stadium in Texas.

The success of the event has sparked speculation about Paul’s future opponents.

Artur Beterbiev, the undisputed light-heavyweight champion, and Daniel Dubois, who knocked out Joshua in September, have both issued challenges.

But according to Paul’s promotional partner Nakisa Bidarian, the real ambition lies in a fight with Joshua.

Bidarian was quoted in The Sun saying: “Jake's feedback to me was: I want to do that fight. Not now. But I want to do that fight.

“To be a world champion at cruiserweight, he wants to do that. The other is to test the limits of expectations. Test the limits of what's possible.

“This event with Mike Tyson, that tested the limits of what was possible for the world to see, and him fighting Anthony Joshua or Daniel Dubois is kind of the same thing.”

Bidarian revealed Paul, who weighed in at 227lbs for the Tyson fight, could compete at heavyweight under the right circumstances.

He added: “It isn’t about the money. He’s made lots of money since he was 18. It’s really about disruption. It’s really about doing things that make you say: ‘Wow, that really happened.’ That’s what excites us.”

While Joshua, 35, has seen talks for a February rematch with Dubois fall through, Paul is considering a host of options, including a possible clash with Canelo Alvarez.

Bidarian said: “He has plenty of options. This was an opportunity to grab the world’s attention, and Jake played a major part in doing that.”
