New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim declares he’s ‘right guy’ for the job

New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has declared he is “the right guy” for the job.

But the 39-year-old boss insists the club will have clarity on his future within two years.

The Portuguese coach, appointed as United’s sixth permanent manager in 11 years, acknowledged the weight of expectation but remains confident in his vision for the club.

He said: “In two years you will understand if I am the right man to be in this process.

“In two years you can understand if you want to continue on this path or you want to change. I know if you are at Manchester United you have to win games, so I will not tell you I need a lot of time.”

Amorim, who rose to prominence managing Sporting Lisbon, believes the Red Devils will soon see they have made the right choice.

While stopping short of Jose Mourinho’s infamous ‘Special One’ declaration in an update on his plans, he stayed bold in stressing his abilities to take the club into the future.

He declared: “Call me naïve, but I believe I am the right guy in the right moment. I truly believe I am the right guy.

“I think we have the same idea, the same mindset, and that can help. You guys think it is not possible; I think it is possible.”

Amorim takes charge of his first match on Sunday (24.11.24) against Ipswich Town and has urged fans to brace for challenges during his tenure.

He added: “It’s Manchester United – you feel the weight of history despite the last few years, and you want to be part of it. The responsibility is enormous. It will be difficult.

“There will be very difficult moments, but I really believe we will succeed.”
