Kevin De Bruyne unsure about future at Man City

Kevin De Bruyne is uncertain about his future at Manchester City.

The Belgian playmaker is out of contract at City at the end of this season and is unsure what the future will hold after he put negotiations for an extension on the back burner after suffering a thigh injury in September.

De Bruyne said: "Obviously when I started the season I knew talks would happen but then I had that thing [thigh injury] against Brentford and put that to a side.

"I was hoping to be out for days but it ended up being eight or nine weeks and I would rather get back first and all the rest will come.

"I am not too obsessed with things but there is not much I can say. I am fine, I am happy, I just want to play football again and we will see.

"Talks will come, if no talks come it will be my last year. I just want to play good football."

City are on a terrible run of five defeats in a row across all competitions but De Bruyne is refusing to panic after a difficult period that he feels shows the competitiveness of teams in the Premier League.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League match against Feyenoord on Tuesday (26.11.24), he said: "It is not strange, you know, I have been a player long enough to have endured more difficult times.

"It happens, I played against relegation in one of my first years, and I have done it in Germany.

"You can not expect to win every time, and I know people expect that from us because that is the standard we set for ourselves.

"In the end, you have to accept that you can have more difficult moments, you know?

"It has been a little bit, the season started really well, and then it switched in a couple of weeks.

"It was a bit chaotic, lots of injuries and lots of people going down or playing injured.

"You have to accept it.

"People are catching up also, especially the middle part of the Premier League. It is getting way better than it was before.

"You have to embrace it and in the end you have to go through the bad moments and try to make it positive again."
