Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol still negotiating rematch terms

Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol are still negotiating the terms of their rematch.

The Russians will face off again in Saudi Arabia on 22 February, four months after Artur claimed victory on points, and his coach Marc Ramsay explained contracts have yet to be finalised.

Marc told Boxing News magazine: “It’s a different way to negotiate things and this is very professional from both parties.

“Nobody’s playing a game and everybody’s very honest in that discussion and I believe it’s going to go the same way for this fight.

“Another rematch clause is something we are discussing right now.

“It’s like we are going to do the fight. Of course, the fight will happen but we also have to negotiate some points, also some stuff about the referee and judges and everything like we do for every fight.”

Artur sees the fight as a “personal challenge” and the rematch is the only logical next step in his career.

Marc added: “This is the only fight that’s very interesting for us as a personal challenge.

“That’s the only fight that makes sense right now for the fans, for our team, to stay motivated and that was a main objective for Artur – to unify the titles – but now we want to do something more clear as a decision and make no doubt about our victory.”
