The Arsenal defender left her native Spain to play in the Women’s Super League last year and she’s settled in well to her new life in London.
She told Match magazine: “London is a big city where you can find people from everywhere.
“I really feel settled in London, England, and this league.
“Last year was a good year to improve and this is just the beginning I hope.”
Laia has found the gameplay in the WSL very different to Spain’s La Liga F.
She explained: “When I played for Barca, every game it was a low-block and it was difficult to be box-to-box, but here, when you play against the best teams, it forces you to be more box-to-box, so you have to defend more.”
And the sportswoman is hoping to come up against Chelsea’s Mayra Ramirez again soon.
She said: “I only played against Chelsea’s Mayra Ramirez in the Women’s League Cup final but I think it was a good battle.
“She’s someone I really want to play against again, because it’s always a good battle with her.”
Laia thinks she plays well with teammate Leah Williamson.
She said: “We have a good relationship on the pitch and you can see it.
“I’m a defender who really likes to defend and she likes to be on the ball, so I think that’s a good combination.”
