Eddie Hearn hypes up Chris Eubank Jr. v Conor Benn fight

Eddie Hearn has described Chris Eubank Jr. v Conor Benn as the "biggest fight in British boxing".

The two boxers - the sons of 1990s rivals Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn - are finally set to clash this April after a deal was struck for the bout with the assistance of Saudi boxing kingpin Turki Alalshikh.

The pair had originally been set to fight in 2022 but the bout was called off at the eleventh hour after it emerged that Benn had tested positive for a banned substance.

Hearn told Matchroom Boxing: "Very late last night, with His Excellency and Conor in his hotel, we got the fight signed. His Excellency made the announcement, I think it was 3 o’clock in the morning. Conor Benn v Chris Eubank is on.

"Two years after the first one. It’s going to be one of the great build-ups of a fight you’ve ever seen and obviously, with Tyson Fury retiring, it is the biggest fight in British boxing."

The fight is expected to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London and Hearn revealed that Nigel Benn will be flying in from Australia - where he lives - to be involved in the event.

The promoter said: "It’s a stadium fight, it’s going to be a red-hot ticket, the build-up’s going to be unbelievable.

"We know the narrative, we know the history, we know the legacy of the fathers, but this is a fight between a very young, hungry welterweight moving to middleweight and it’s real personal now. Real personal. You’re going to love the build-up, but you’re going to love the fight even more. This is a proper fight with real bad blood. And I can’t wait."
