Jake Paul targets Olympic glory in 2028

Jake Paul has set his sights on winning an Olympic gold medal.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer is hoping to represent Team USA at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles and claimed that he would likely retire from the sport if he was able to take home the gold.

Quizzed about retirement, Paul told Ring Champs: "I don't think it'll be after winning a world title.

"I'm going to try and figure out how to fight in the 2028 Olympics and win gold and then I think I'll retire."

Paul has an idea of what weight category he will compete in at the Olympics and believes that fans haven't seen the best of him in the boxing ring yet.

The social media star said: "It's in kilograms, so 80-90 something. The one under heavyweight.

"I think people haven't seen the best version of me in the ring or what I'm capable of.

"I think I've not shown that and this next year is the great way to do that."

Paul was victorious in his controversial bout against Mike Tyson last year and has regularly expressed a desire to take on Mexican icon Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez - a clash that his advisor Nakisa Bidarian believes is a realistic possibility.

He said: "We just put on the biggest event since the advent of cable for combat sports.

"And so no matter what fighter you are, you have to look at that and say, 'That is a pretty special moment, that is a pretty special platform'.

"Jake Paul doesn't need Canelo from a fan perspective nor from a belt perspective because they are not going to fight for the belts Canelo holds.

"Canelo certainly doesn't need Jake Paul to make money either.

"For me, it has to be more than that. It has to be a desire to once again have the world stop and pay attention to this beautiful sport of boxing.

"Have the world look at it and say, 'Wow! Boxing is back'... the hurdle is not money."
