Travis Kelce is looking forward to playing in front of Donald Trump at the Super Bowl

Travis Kelce says it will be an "honour" to play in front of Donald Trump at the Super Bowl.

Trump will become the first sitting US president to attend the NFL showpiece when he watches the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on Sunday (09.02.25) and it is a prospect that excites the players.

Chiefs tight end Kelce - whose girlfriend Taylor Swift has previously criticised Trump - said: "It's a great honour I think, no matter who the president is.

"I'm excited because it's the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there - it's the best country in the world so it'd be pretty cool."

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also says it will be "cool" to play in front of the president - who recently praised his skills - as the franchise aims for a historic third straight Super Bowl win.

He said: "It's always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone that is in the top position in our country.

"I didn't see that clip but it's cool to hear that he's seen me play football and respects the game that I play."

The team's offensive lineman Trey Smith added: "It's one of the greatest sporting events, not only in America but the world, so we know there'll be even more eyes on us. But it'll be a really cool and unique experience at the same time."

Trump declined to pick a winner of the game when he was asked earlier this week.

The president said: "I don't want to say, but there's a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner."
