Dean Burmester: 'Golf makes me angry'

Dean Burmester has admitted golf makes him “angry”.

The 35-year-old LIV golfer wants people to realise he is a “nicer guy” than they may think because of his conduct on the green.

Asked the last thing he’d like to have written about him, he told bunkered magazine: “That’s an easy one – the last thing would be that I’m a nicer guy than I appear, because I am.

“Golf just makes me angry.”

And Dean admitted he recently lost his temper during a practice game and snapped one of his clubs.

Discussing the last time he threw a club, he confessed: “Oh it was in Chicago and not all that long ago.

“I threw a driver and snapped it in half. Yeah, it was not a good moment.

“Luckily it was only a practice round.”

The sportsman has been playing golf since he was just five years old and broke par by the age of 14.

He said: “I remember the first time I played nine holes. I was only five years old and it was back in Zimbabwe at Hillside Golf Club in Mutare.”

Asked when he first broke par, he added: “That’s taking me back to Hillside again. I remember breaking par when I was 14 years old.”
