The 40-year-old sportsman resigned from the PGA Tour in June 2022 to sign with the rival tour and he’s happy with the more limited playing schedule because he gets to be a present dad for his and wife Paulina Gretzky’s two young sons, Tatum and River.
He told bunkered magazine: “The biggest bonus with being on LIV is being able to spend so much time, a long period of time, at home.
“I get to coach my kids’ baseball team, I coach their basketball team.
“Doing stuff like that which I never got to do before. We have an off-season, so it gives me an extended period away.
“It’s a bonus.”
Dustin believes the quality of players on the LIV tour is “unbelievable” and it isn’t possible to have an occasional off day.
He said: “The quality out here on LIV is unbelievable.
“It’s three rounds, so you have to play well every single round.
“Over a four-day tournament, you get away with one okay round, but in a three-day event it’s not possible.
“Especially out here with the quality of players.
“It puts pressure on you from day one. You’ve got to get off to a good start. It’s a little bit different, but the scores that we shoot to win these events are so low.
“They’re not on easy golf courses either.
“In four-day events, the totals are less than the three-day events we’re playing.”
