Frank Warren won't try and tempt Tyson Fury out of retirement

Frank Warren won't try and bring Tyson Fury out of retirement.

The Gypsy King revealed last month that he was walking away from boxing and the promoter says his fighter is entitled to do what he wants after a successful career in the sport.

Warren told TNT Sports: "I’m not trying to bring him back, I’ve not even discussed it with him. He’s retired and that’s it.

"If he ever decided [to return] - and that’s a big if - it would be his decision to make with his family, I would certainly not try to encourage him in doing that.

"He has been a magnificent servant for British boxing, one of the two best heavyweights of the 21st century, done it at every level, won world titles in other guys’ backyards against good quality fighters.

"He has done everything that has been asked of him, and he has had a hard career in some respects. Some self-inflicted, and when you look the first time around when he won the world title, the problems he had, the depths of despair, the boozing, messing about with stuff he shouldn’t have been messing about with.

"That in itself is a mountain to climb, and he did that and showed what he is all about, his courage, and with the support of his family he went on to win and regain the world title."

Fury has previously reversed his decision to retire in 2022 but Warren insists that a lucrative clash with Anthony Joshua won't be enough to prompt another U-turn.

The Queensberry Promotions boss said: "He has just got to enjoy himself now. He had a tough year last year, two world title fights, three training camps, it takes a lot of you and when you are in training camp you are not with your family, not seeing the kids grow up, missing chunks of their lives. He is with them now and is enjoying himself.

"He is financially secure, he has made stacks of money and good luck to him. He is a fighting man, if he comes back to fight - I am not saying he will, and to be honest I hope he doesn’t - but if he does, he’s not doing it for the money. If he does it it’s because he’s a fighting man."
