The 22-year-old super-welterweight is confident in his abilities and with a title shot on his horizons, he knows what mistake he shouldn’t make.
He told Boxing News magazine: “I feel like some of these guys that reach the top of their division and then lose right away… It’s because they get too comfortable.
“That’s the main mistake a lot of fighters make.
“Now, I’m the hunter. I’m trying to hunt down every champion.
“Once I win it, everybody’s going to hunt me down so I’ve got to be kind of like John Wick, you know? Just be ready for whatever they put in front of me.
“That hunger can’t go away, that determination can’t go away, that work ethic can’t go away.
“When I win the title, that’s when I’ve got to push even harder.”
Xander wants to be pushed in training to be as “uncomfortable” as possible in order to be at his best.
He said: “Everything I do during training camp is trying to make me uncomfortable.
“When I go to the track, when I run up the hills, when I spar… It’s all designed to make me uncomfortable, because that’s what it takes.
“When you have a great team behind you, that pushes you and wants to see you succeed, they’re going to try and make you feel uncomfortable, because that’s how they know they can get the best version out of you.”
