Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammate Charles Omenihu expects the star to return to the NFL next season.

Kelce revealed that he is considering his future in the sport following the Chiefs' Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this month but Omenihu expects him to return as he won't want to end his career on such a disappointing note.

The defensive end told FS1's 'The Facility': "He’s a Hall of Famer from the moment he says, ‘I’m done'.

"But I think Trav has a lot left. I think Trav is an extreme competitor. I think he’s somebody that loves the game. And I think in the storied career that he’s had, going out like that, in my opinion, wouldn’t be something that he would do."

Kelce, who is dating pop superstar Taylor Swift, confirmed last week that he was planning to take some time before deciding whether to return to the NFL for a 13th season.

He said on his 'New Heights' podcast: "I know everybody wants to know whether or not I'm playing next year, and right now, I'm just kicking everything down the road. I'm not making any crazy decisions."

The 35-year-old star confirmed that he would only represent the Chiefs again next season if he is completely committed to the idea.

He explained: "I'm gonna take some time to figure it out. And, I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, it's a wholehearted decision. I'm not half-a***** it, and I'm fully here for them."

Kelce recently apologised to Chiefs fans after the franchise missed out on the chance to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

The tight end said: "It's a tough pill to swallow. It's a hard reality, man. I love my teammates, I love my coaches. Chiefs Kingdom, I'm sorry for how it ended."
