Dmitry Bivol could move up to cruiserweight after rematch win over Artur Beterbiev

Dmitry Bivol will consider a move up to cruiserweight after getting revenge against Artur Beterbiev.

The Russian boxer triumphed in an epic rematch on Saturday (22.02.25) to become the undisputed light heavyweight world champion and hinted that he could move up in weight despite many fans and pundits calling for a trilogy bout.

Bivol said in his post-fight news conference: "I think December will be amazing, maybe earlier. I don't have any preference now to be honest. What people want to see I'm going to take.

"Maybe we could talk about cruiserweight. I will think about it also, why not? I have belts here [at light heavyweight]. I need to check cruiserweight. Why not?"

Bivol has plenty of options open to him after the victory but confirmed that he will be taking some time away from the sport to nurse his body after two gruelling contests against Beterbiev in the space of four months.

The fighter said: "I'm open for any fight, but today I want to enjoy that I'm undisputed champion. I want to take care of my health because I have some issues.

"I want to heal myself and then move forward again. Trilogy, (David) Benavidez, Canelo (Alvarez) ... As always, I just wait for an offer then I say yes."

Promoter Frank Warren suggested that the brutal rematch was a fight that boxing fans would "never forget".

He said: "The fight was a privilege to watch. It's one you'll never forget. Two great fighters, probably the two best of their generation and probably of the 21st century.

"An unbelievable fight, much better than the first one and they gave their all and we're going to get probably a trilogy out of it."
