Frank Warren claims that Daniel Dubois is still on track for rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

Frank Warren insists that Daniel Dubois is still on course for a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

The British fighter was forced to pull out of his IBF world title defence against Joseph Parker last weekend due to illness but his promoter claims that the setback won't harm his chances of a unification bout against the Ukrainian.

Warren told BBC Radio 5 Live: "You have to look at the next move and I think that will be either Usyk in an all-belt affair for the four belts or maybe AJ [Anthony Joshua]. We will have to work that out in the next week or so.

"We will talk through the options as a team and make a decision. Everyone's view is important but the most important view is Daniel's because he is the one getting into the ring and he makes the ultimate decision."

Dubois' place in Saturday's (22.02.25) fight was taken by Martin Bakole - who was easily beaten by Parker inside two rounds - and Warren admits that his charge was despondent after missing out on the bout in Saudi Arabia.

The Queensberry Promotions boss said: "Daniel thought he would probably have done the same thing to Parker.

"He's very down and disappointed and he feels his moment was robbed. It happened at the wrong moment for him and cost him a lot of money and cost the fans a really good fight."

Dubois was beaten by Usyk when they fought in 2023 and explained before withdrawing from the fight with Parker that he wanted to become the undisputed world champion.

He told Sky Sports: "I always wanted to get my hands on them belts and take the weight off Usyk's hands. Let's get them belts.

"Boxing at the moment is buzzing right now. It's good I'm in a good position with the belt. I want to keep it going, keep this train moving."
