Liverpool boss Arne Slot handed two match ban

Arne Slot has been given a two-match touchline ban.

The Liverpool manager has been punished by the FA for his actions after the club's 2-2 draw against local rivals Everton in the Merseyside Derby.

In a statement, the FA said: "It was alleged that the Liverpool head coach acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards both the match referee and an assistant referee after the match had finished.

"Arne Slot admitted the charge, and the Regulatory Commission imposed a two-match touchline suspension and £70,000 fine."

The sanction has been made by an independent Regulatory Commission, while Slot's assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff has been hit with a two-match ban and £7,000 fine.

Everton and Liverpool as a whole have been charges with "failing to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way following the final whistle".

The Toffees and Reds have been hit with £65,000 and £50,000 fines respectively.

Slot's ban means he won't be in the dugout this evening (25.02.25) at Anfield for Liverpool's home game against Newcastle.

The second match he'll miss is on March 8 against Southampton.

However, the suspension only applies to domestic games, so he will appear on the touchline in between those fixtures for Liverpool's visit to PSG in the Champions League.

Speaking to the media two days after the game, Slot admitted: "Emotions got the better of me."

His first domestic game back will be the League Cup Final against Newcastle on March 16.

Ironically, his first league game back in the dugout will be against Everton at Anfield on April 2.
