The club announced this week they will make up to 200 more employees redundant as they continue cost-saving measures in a bid to get finances under control after five years of losses.
Amorim told reporters this week: "It's easy for me to be here and say all the pretty stuff - but we have to improve.
"The recruitment is crucial and we need to improve the team.
"We need to perform better, we need to be in Europe and not in our position during the season."
The 40-year-old coach noted that the staff losing their jobs are "paying the price" for poor performances on the pitch.
He added: "They [employees] are paying the price for our lack of success and I cannot say anything now that is going to convince the fans and all the staff that we are going to do it.
"We have an idea. For me as a coach, we need to be a better team and to recruit better and not make a lot of mistakes in that department."
Speaking in Tuesday's (25.02.25) press conference, Amorim acknowledged the last year has been "very hard" for everyone involved in the club.
He also noted that "it's hard enough to win football matches" even without the amount of external pressure and distractions.
However, he insisted tonight's (26.02.25) fixture against Ipswitch Town is "a new game", and a chance to turn their home form around.
He said: "Since I arrived, I expect to win all the games at home. I don't feel the pressure because I don't feel it - the supporters are amazing.
"Every time you go to Old Trafford you feel the support until the end.
"I don't feel the pressure and we have to stop and think about the last game. It's a new game and it can be a new story."
