The Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw by Nottingham Forest on Wednesday (26.02.25) to fall 13 points behind the league leaders although Arteta claims that his team won't be changing their approach to the battle for the championship.
The Arsenal boss said: "It was the same a week ago, two weeks ago, three months ago. The only thing we can do is win our matches and see how many points we get.
"We have dropped two points in this game and it is painful. It doesn't feel good because we're here to win. We showed unquestionable character in how much we wanted it and tried.
"We dominated the game. We tried in many different ways. We insisted but lacked that spark, that final pass to unlock a well-organised team. We have to generate more shots on target."
Arsenal's failure to score for a second game running will lead to more questions about the club not bringing in a striker during the January transfer window but Arteta felt that his team performed far better than they did in the 1-0 defeat to West Ham last weekend.
He said: "Very different standard [to the West Ham defeat]. We defended with energy, purpose, fight, willingness to make things happen. It wasn't because we lacked that. We tried until the end but weren't able to do it."
Arteta did concede that the team needs to find a "solution" to score goals amid their paucity of attacking options.
He said: "We try and adapt to the qualities they have, how we can help the team to create different things, to have threats from different qualities.
"It’s a lot to play for and we need to find a solution to unlock it."
