Arne Slot ready for Liverpool to take on 'peak' PSG in Champions League

Arne Slot has warned Liverpool that they will be facing a "peak" PSG in the Champions League.

The Reds travel to the French capital for the first leg of their last 16 tie on Wednesday (05.03.25) and the coach has stressed that his side will be up against one of the continent's strongest teams.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Slot said: "This team, if I heard Luis Enrique correctly, doesn't have injuries at all - they're probably at their peak this season. A very interesting game for those who love football."

The Dutch coach knows that his team are in for a tricky test against PSG but pointed out that his team have dealt with the pressures of their Premier League and Champions League matches superbly so far.

Slot said: "We are facing Paris Saint-Germain, which is one of the strongest teams in Europe, so that’s going to be a challenge also.

"I don’t think I need to calm the players down.

"They know how difficult the task is in front of them, because they know how difficult it has been to win our Champions League games, and how difficult it’s been to win our Premier League games."

Slot led Liverpool to victory against Real Madrid in Europe earlier this season but thinks that the PSG tie will be more demanding as his team will have to be at their best over the course of two matches.

He said: "The difference is there are now two games instead of one - both will play at home, and we know how important playing at Anfield can be.

"This is different because we play two games, and although we all know how good of a team Real Madrid are, they had some injuries as well."
