Sebastian Fundora proud to show 'manners and respect'

Sebastian Fundora doesn’t believe “calling out” other boxers would benefit his career.

The super-welterweight champion believes “manners and respect” are important but also doesn’t think the fact he conducts himself differently to other fighters outside the ring has made a difference to his trajectory inside.

He told Boxing News magazine: “I guess I have been raised well to have manners and respect.

“That’s how everyone in life should try to be.

“I am not going to be the guy shouting at other boxers and calling them out, as that isn’t my personality.

“Other fighters feel that this is how they will get bigger and better opportunities, but I have soon realised that it only matters what you do in the ring.”

But the 27-year-old boxer admitted his “level-headed” nature doesn’t benefit him in a fight, though it does come in useful when it comes to other elements of his sport.

He added: “Even if I am seen as a nice, level-headed guy, I know that this isn’t going to help me inside the ring.

“Sure, maybe the business side of the sport, but when it comes down to fighting, it’s all about leaving everything of yourself in the ring and giving all you’ve got.”
