The Commonwealth champion – who is set to face Gerome Warburton for the vacant British middleweight championship belt - hopes Roade School in Northampton will eventually have a reason to pay tribute to him, as the educational establishment has previously honoured another past pupil, Olympic sprinter Derek Redmond.
He told Boxing News magazine: “There’s ‘The Redmond Hall’ at my old school and I’d love to have a hall there named after me – or even just the canteen.
“I would be happy with that – the Conway Canteen.”
The 28-year-old sportsman thinks he’s had a lot to celebrate in his career so far so believes he is a good example of the power of hard work.
He said: “I was never an outstanding amateur. I didn’t even reach a national final, but I have been on two Canelo undercards, an Anthony Joshua pay-per-view undercard, I fought in Eddie Hearn’s back garden during lockdown and I think my last 10 fights have all been on television.
“I do have ‘wow’ moments when I stop and think, ‘I really did that’.
“I have shown it’s possible if you put the work in and do the right things.”
