Bryson DeChambeau hopes to inspire younger generation

Bryson DeChambeau wants to inspire a younger generation of golfers.

The 31-year-old sportsman believes the sport can help build “great character” and hopes he sets a good example to others about what can be achieved with the “right” values.

He told Golf Monthly magazine: “I am trying to inspire the younger generation to play the game because golf builds great character.

“The game has helped me to build my character and my father also helped to instil a lot of great lessons in life and character in me.

“My second dad, Mike Schy, my first golf coach, encourages me as well.

“Having those things in my life is important to me to showcase to the younger generations the things you can do in life if you have the right intentions, the right morals and the right character.”

Bryson also has a hugely popular golfing YouTube channel, where guests have included Tom Brady and President Donald Trump, and he’s very proud of the venture.

He said: “IT’s awesome. It’s strategic too. We didn’t just throw everything together and hope for the best.

“My team and I have had a large plan since 2020 on this and what we’re seeing is the fruits of the labour.

“This work has been behind the scenes for a long time.”

And Bryson hopes the outlet has given people a sense of who he really is.

He said: “In 2020, the media’s view of me was quite a bit different to who I know I am.

“And, you know, that’s ultimately why I started the YouTube channel.

“I want people to see me for who I truly am and have them see how much I care about growing the game and inspiring juniors.”
