The 27-year-old midfielder moved to the London club from Barcelona during the January transfer window and while she found the style at the Spanish side similar to her old team Manchester City, she’s needed some time to adjust to Sonia Bompastor’s systems.
She told Telegraph Sport: “Going from City to Barça was more similar in terms of how they move the ball, whereas here I think it’s a little bit more free.
“I’m different to the other midfielders in terms of how I play the game. I’m not the box-to-box [type], I’m not going to be scoring, always trying to pass forward and make the best pass. I like to control the tempo of the game.
“It’s taken a bit of time but I spoke to Sonia about it and that’s what she wants me to do.”
Keira enjoys playing under Chelsea boss Sonia.
She said: “She’s intense but she’s a really good person and really values the human side of it.”
Keira would have been out of contract and available to move for free at the end of the season, but Chelsea were determined to get her for the rest of this season and she admitted it made her feel valued.
She said: “It’s something that goes a long way with players.
“That feeling of their intent and how much they wanted me. It made me feel good and it added to me wanting to come more. I think it shows what they’re about that they didn’t want to wait until the summer.”
