City kept their last hope of claiming a trophy this term alive as they beat Bournemouth 2-1 in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday (30.03.25) but the midfielder doesn't think winning the honour would be enough to consider the season a success.
Silva told ESPN: "No, our standards are much higher than this.
"So of course we would be happy [to win the FA Cup] but it doesn't make the season good."
City's form has improved this year with the addition of January signings like Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez but the Portuguese international says their disastrous run of results at the end of 2024 cannot be excused.
He said: "Unfortunately, we had all the injuries, all the problems in the squad, which didn't help. But yeah, that's still no excuse.
"We own the bad months that we have. We don't make excuses. We should have done much better than that. And from now on, what we can control is our performances, and today was a good performance for the team."
City manager Pep Guardiola praised the club's "legendary" players for fighting through the tie to ensure that City reached the FA Cup semi-finals for the seventh season in a row.
The coach said: "There are minimum requirements that we have to show - respect for your mate, you have to make the effort. And today we did it.
"I spoke with the team at half-time so we are good. We are in your hands. We conceded just one shot on target.
"That means how Bernardo, Kova [Mateo Kovacic], the senior players, the legendary players that give the most incredible things in the club, they make a step up again and made an excellent performance."
