Marcus Rashford happy with steady progress after scoring first Aston Villa goals

Marcus Rashford is pleased with the steady progress he has made at Aston Villa.

The England striker netted his first goals since joining the club on loan from Manchester United during Villa's 3-0 win over Preston in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday (30.03.25) and hopes that he can keep on scoring in the closing weeks of the season.

Rashford told BBC Sport: "It's a great feeling. I feel like I've slowly been getting fitter and playing better football since I've been here. So yeah, it's obviously nice for a forward to always get goals, so hopefully it continues."

Villa still have aspirations in both the FA Cup and Champions League and Rashford explained that the team will do their best in all fronts in the coming matches as they additionally strive for European qualification via the Premier League.

He said: "I think we have to just take it one game at a time and just give 100 per cent on the pitch and we'll see where it takes us.

"But I think we're a very ambitious team. We want to win, we want to try and get as far as we can in all competitions. And we also want to push to get back into the top four."

Rashford still thinks he has time to go before he hits his best form for Villa as he was frozen out at United before making his loan move.

The player said: "Step by step. I think I can still get fitter and I've missed a lot of football before joining up with them. So at the minute my body feels good and I'm injury free and just enjoying my football. So all good for now."
