Daniel Dubois' trainer doesn't want Derek Chisora world title fight

Daniel Dubois' trainer Don Charles has warned Derek Chisora against fighting the IBF world champion.

The veteran fighter has expressed a desire to take on Dubois in a world title bout at Wembley Stadium in his 50th and last professional clash, but Charles fears that Chisora could be putting his health at risk by doing so.

The trainer - who previously worked with Chisora for 38 fights - told talkSPORT: "I wouldn't like to see this fight for a lot of reasons.

"Firstly because of his age, there is a lot of mileage on the clock to face off against a human being who is in his physical prime.

"I wouldn't want to see that for Derek, he has 49 fights and I have trained him for 38 of them.

"I wouldn't want to see it for health reasons, but in my other heart Derek deserves a good send-off."

Charles hopes that Chisora gets a fitting farewell to the sport but admits that he would be in a quandary if the bout was against Dubois.

He said: "He deserves a big-money fight, a huge exit and he entertains the fans and is a crowd favourite.

"I wouldn't want to see that because I'm emotionally connected to Derek, it wouldn't be good for me to be in the opposite corner with Daniel.

"So I wouldn't want to see it happen, but in Derek's case what a send-off it would be.

"I'm not the governing body who commissioned it, I'm just a trainer and caught in the middle.

"But if I'm called upon by my guy Daniel Dubois, then I am a professional."

Dubois has a plethora of options for the defence of his IBF world title, but has revealed that he is keen to take on Joseph Parker after having to withdraw from their scheduled February bout due to illness.

The boxer said: "I want to run it back [with Parker]. If they can get that fight on, that’s the fight I want next.

"It’s unfinished business and it’s left a bitter taste in my mouth. I want to fight them all. I want to fight Parker definitely."
