The New Zealand international knows the Black Ferns have a huge “challenge” to take the trophy for a second time after clinching victory back in 2021, but she’s looking forward to defending their title on British soil.
She told Rugby World magazine: “I’m super excited. I remember the last World cup, all the hype and the people, the questions and crazy stuff going on. I’m just like, Bring it on, I’m so ready to go again.
“The Black Ferns have this huge opportunity. We did it at home, which was a big ask, but to beat that, it’s going halfway round the world and backing it up there.
“It’s one of the greatest challenges to top a home World Cup win.”
And Ruby knows New Zealand will face stiff competition, though she’s determined to put on an “absolute show”.
She said: “There’s going to be heaps of pressure on England and France – this is where their people are.
“Everyone is going to have their opinions and I love that as a rugby player.
“The more pressure and people the better.
“It makes for a great spectacle.
“We want to give back to our fans, so I’m all for putting on an absolute show.”
