Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta 'wants much more' despite 'beautiful' Champions League journey

Mikel Arteta has insisted Arsenal "want much more" after reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

On Tuesday (29.04.25), the Gunners welcome Paris St-Germain to the Emirates Stadium after beating reigning champions Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate, and while Arteta is proud of the "beautiful story" so far, he's not satisfied.

He told reporters: "You feel [the weight of history].

"Especially because we have a lot of people who have worked at this club for many, many years and they've never been in this position.

"That tells you how unique and beautiful this is.

"We are making history. It's a beautiful story right now - but we want much more."

Arsenal have never won the champions league, and haven't reached the semi-finals since 2009, when they lost 4-1 on aggregate to Manchester United.

Despite struggling for form in the Premier league - they have won just one of their past four games - they earned victory in six of their eight league-phase games in the Champions League.

They also overcame PSV Eindhoven with a 9-3 aggregate win in the last 16 before their triumph over Real.

Arteta said: "The fact that we are here as one of the four best teams in Europe, it tells about the mindset, spirit and how much we really want it."

Arsenal also have confidence after beating PSG in the league phase, while he Arteta urged the fans to go even further than they did in the 3-0 win over Real.

He added: "I'm not exaggerating. Guys, bring your boots, your shorts and T-shirt and let's play every ball together.

"You want to do something special? That place has to be something special. Something we haven't seen."
