OpenAI has confirmed the chat bot's search engine - which was first rolled out to paid subscribers in October - will now be available to everyone on the free tier, providing they have an account and are logged in.
The company announced the news as part of the '12 Days of OpenAI' series, along with an "optimised" mobile version of the feature, as well as the ability to search via advanced voice mode.
On mobile, ChatGPT now looks more similar to a traditional search engine, with a list of results appearing alongside images and more details.
In a bid to improve the user experience when people are searching for things like "hotel booking websites", ChatGPT will now provide links to sites first before taking time to show more information for each result.
For paid users using Advanced Voice Mode, the platform can also provide up to date information from the web.
In a blog post about ChatGPT search, OpenAI previously said: "Ask a question in a more natural, conversational way, and ChatGPT can choose to respond with information from the web.
"Go deeper with follow-up questions, and ChatGPT will consider the full context of your chat to get a better answer for you.
"We also partnered with news and data providers to add up-to-date information and new visual designs for categories like weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps."
