Elon Musk blamed 'IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area' for X cyber attack

Elon Musk has blamed "IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area" for causing the "massive" X cyber attack.

It has been reported that approximately 40,000 users could not log in to the tech billionaire's social media platform, with others claiming some posts would not load, on Monday (10.03.25).

The helm of the Department of Government Efficiency has sensationally claimed the IP addresses originated in the war-torn country.

He told Fox Business Network on Monday, March 10: "Well, we're not sure exactly what happened.

"But there was a massive cyber attack to try to bring down the X system with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area."

Mr. Musk also added in the interview that the site was back up and running.

In a now-deleted post on Telegram, a hacking group called Dark Storm Team - which has no ties to Ukraine - claimed responsibility for causing a DDOS attack on X.

A DDOS attack causes websites to shut down after becoming overwhelmed by thousands or millions of bots that take over the site.

Before his claim, the world's richest man suggested a country or a large coordinated group, or even both, was the cause of the downtime.

He wrote on the platform - which was formerly known as Twitter: "There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X.

"We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources.

"Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.
