The UK’s leading eco-tech brand has announced the creation of Solar Henge, a spectacular re-imagining of the world-famous British landmark built entirely from solar panels.
The eye-catching installation has been created in time for the upcoming solar eclipse in the UK, and according to the designers, Solar Henge challenges the misconception that solar energy isn’t viable for the climate in the country.
In fact, the solar panels will power a full-scale solar eclipse viewing party, which will include music, lighting and a food and drinks truck.
The event - which is free of charge - is being held at Alexandra Palace in London on Saturday, March 29, between 10am and noon.
The family-friendly experience will give visitors a first-hand look at the one-of-a-kind installation.
Visitors will also be given access to new research on public attitudes toward solar in the UK, while Hamish Phillips - Hive’s net zero director - is scheduled to speak at the event.
The UK is set to experience a partial solar eclipse next week, when nearly half the sun's light will be blocked out.
Partial solar eclipses are rare events in the UK, with the next one expected in August 2026.
