The 63-year-old boss - who was appointed to the position at the March 19 annual shareholders meeting - passed away in hospital while being treated following a heart attack on Tuesday (25.03.25).
Confirming the news on March 25, a Samsung spokesperson said: "Our deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time."
He is survived by his wife and children.
A successor to join the newly-appointed boss Jun Young-hyun is yet to be decided.
Han - who joined the firm in 1988 and became its chief executive officer in 2022 - also headed the brand's digital appliances division, which includes its mobile phones and home appliances.
His tireless work was credited for making Samsung the leading name in television manufacturing.
At the March 19 shareholder meeting, he told investors that 2025 would be a tricky year and said sorry for the home appliance division's performance amid uncertainty with US tariffs and ongoing trade wars.
Han was set to attend Samsung's new home appliances launch event on March 26.
