A survey has found that business travellers are reluctant to use apps for work trips.

The survey, commissioned by World Travel Protection, found that while seven in 10 business travelers have been encouraged to organise their travel via a specific app, only three in 10 have actually downloaded one in the first place.

Frank Harrison, Regional Security Director Americas, World Travel Protection, said: "Given the volatile state of the world – with growing civil unrest, geopolitical conflicts, and natural disasters – it’s puzzling that many travelers aren’t taking advantage of the latest travel assistance apps, which can provide immediate access to medical and security experts at the touch of a button."

He noted that it is "important" for companies to encourage the use of apps when it comes to their employees travelling for work, especially when it comes to the interests of safety.

He said: "It’s important for companies to make sure their employees not only have access to these tools but are actively using them. A hands-on travel risk management partner can significantly boost the adoption rate of these apps, making a notable difference in employee safety."
