In a survey, 77 per cent of passengers at the Bedfordshire-based airport admitted they had previously had to take off their footwear to put through a scanner before flying, but they will not have to do that anymore thanks to new technology that will be unveiled at the site.
Neil Thompson, Chief Operations Officer at London Luton Airport, commented: "We were delighted to become one of the first major airports in the UK to offer the benefits of next generation security to passengers ahead of what was a busy and successful summer at London Luton Airport. This investment provides LLA with enhanced screening technology, significantly streamlining operations to ensure a simple, friendly airport experience for all of our guests.”
30 per cent of travellers have previously avoided wearing boots due to security concerns, but with LLA’s upgraded technology, you can now flaunt your favourite kicks - especially when 25 per cent of travellers prioritise footwear when planning their airport outfits."
