Travellers can enjoy a one-off stay to celebrate the 1980s after a survey found it to be the best decade for the festive period, while 27% said they would love to relive the era.
And with London one of the top searched holiday destinations, Booking.com are offering a one-off homestay featuring over-the-top 1980s-style decorations including a Christmas tree with gaudy lights and shimmering tinsel, as well as vintage decor and VHS videos of festive favourites such as 'The Snowman' and 'Gremlins' - to watch on a chunky retro TV.
Guests will be welcomed to the 'Home of Christmas' past with festive 80s tunes and a hamper filled with Christmas buffet classics of the time, including Advocaat, Vienetta and Vol-au-vents.
Underneath the Christmas tree will be a selection of the top gifts and toys from the 1980s for the guests to take away with the, but they will also receive tickets for some of the city's most popular modern attracctions, including a Christmas lights tour, afternoon tea oon the Thames and ice skating at an outdoor rink.
Ryan Pearson, Regional Manager for UK and Ireland at Booking.com, said: “Nostalgia is a big trend, not only in entertainment, fashion and home decor, but also travel. For some that means revisiting places from childhood holidays, and for others, travelling to reunite with family and friends to reminisce.
"But for 1 in 10, travel is also about the chance to feel like a kid again***, and what better time to do that than at Christmas and in this, the ultimate 80s festive home.”
The Home of Christmas Past will be available to book on a first come first serve basis on Tuesday 10 December 2024 on the Booking.com app or website, for up to four guests checking-in for two nights on 13 December at a cost of £19.80 only.
