New research, from Away Resorts, has found that more Brits (52 percent) are planning to take a staycation in the UK than travel abroad in 2025, and an industry expert has admitted to being encouraged by the recent travel trend.
Carl Castledine, the founder of Away Resorts, explained: "It’s always interesting to reflect on the nation’s holiday habits and as a holiday park operator, it’s encouraging to see the appetite for staycations remains strong."
Carl observed that the UK can provides a variety of different vacation types, including exciting city breaks and relaxing beach holidays.
He said: "Travel trends come and go, but the core reasons people like to get away from it all remain largely the same.
"Most people live busy lives, so the prospect of quality time spent with our loved ones, some much-needed rest and relaxation or reconnecting with nature give us something to really look forward to.
"The UK countryside and coastline is truly stunning so a British staycation can offer so much, whether you’re looking for adventure or just to unwind in picturesque surroundings."
In 2021, an industry expert suggested that the COVID-19 pandemic would change UK holiday habits forever.
Sykes Cottages boss Graham Donoghue said at the time: "More Brits than ever are getting to experience everything the UK has to offer - whether that's beach breaks along the south coast or exploring the picture-perfect Peak District.
"The pandemic will have a lasting impact on us all, and this is especially true for how people holiday. We expect the shift towards holidays at home to stick and hope to continue to see staycation destinations outside of the usual honeypot locations grow in popularity in the years to come."
